ACOUSTIC WATERMAIN DETECTION
Where watermains that are made of non-metallic materials such as PVC, Polyethylene, Asbestos Cement, Vitrified Clay etc are in the works area we need to use other location methods because Electro Magnetic Fields cannot be will not work. For watermains and house/tap feeds connected to a water source we use a technology known as Acoustic Detection (Watermain Thumping). This technology has been tried and tested and proven throughout over 20 years of service within the Locating industry.
Where ‘normal’ EMF locating, or Acoustic Watermain Detection cannot be used we recommend using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR).
