‘All work is carried out in accordance with AS5488 ‘Classification of Subsurface Utility Information (SUI)’

Electronic detection is by far the most safe and accurate method of locating underground services. We use EMF technology to locate pipes and cables beneath the surface.

There are numerous ways to create an EMF around a service with the most accurate being direct connection or clamping around it at a known point (i.e. from a pit or manhole or where comes out of the ground).

Then using a receiver, we can ‘trace’ the alignment and depth of the service in question. Our team have decades of experience and training to use the best method and frequencies to better suit the individual job.

“Just because underground pipes and cables are out of sight it doesn’t mean they should be out of mind”

FAQ

Why do I need to locate my services in my property?

Did you know as part of  your duty of care obligation you must have current Dial Before You Dig (DBYD) plans on site before you begin any earthworks on site. This is the case for anyone from someone digging a hole in the front yard to building a major highway. It is safest to always have the area located before work begins. If you don’t have current DBYD plans (each asset owner has different set expiry dates) on site and an asset is damaged YOU ARE LIABLE for the damages caused! Going one step further and having us locate all known services in the area covers you not only legally but also means you can go home without injury or death.

I am only taking off the top layer of bitumen on a job, and I am only digging shallow. Aren’t all services at least 600mm-1mtr deep?

It depends if the road has been changed or the levels of road have been dropped over time or if the contractor did or did not follow guidelines when putting in the services, there are so many different variables when it comes to underground services. Considering the cost to the contractor involved to repair a broken service as apposed to getting a DBYD certified locator out first, it isn’t worth the risk.

Can you tell me how deep my services are?

We can’t tell you over the phone, but we can come out and accurately locate the traceable service with a line of direction and a depth and this will all be marked on the ground so you can visually see where your services come from and go to.
